Robert T. Eglet Named National Lawyer of the Year
Robert Eglet, the lead trial attorney in the record breaking $505 million verdict, in the first trial related to the 2008 hepatitis outbreak in Las Vegas, has been named "Lawyer of the Year" by Lawyers USA.
Each December, Lawyers USA selects Attorneys who have made an important impact on the law in that year. In its citation, Lawyers USA described how Eglet "argued to jurors that oversized vials of drugs sold by a pharmaceutical manufacturer and distributor were 'weapons of mass infection' that led to a hepatitis-C outbreak."
Roughly 50,000 Clark County residents were notified they might have been exposed to hepatitis C, during routine endoscopy procedures after health officials discovered staff reused vials of the sedative Propofol on multiple patients.
The trial and subsequent verdict made national news when a jury found two pharmaceutical companies liable.
Lawyers USA also included this verdict at #1 in their "Top 10 Verdicts of the Year."

The Las Vegas law firm of Eglet Wall has successfully represented thousands of injury victims and holds some of the highest accomplishments in Nevada. What makes us one of the most effective law firms in the state? It's a combination of strengths.
It's our tenacity — our ability to stand up for people who have experienced serious personal injuries — and our attention to each legal and factual issue that can affect a case.
Most of all, it is our drive to work exceptionally hard for the people we represent, as time and time again we forcefully advocate for what is right. This is true even when the going gets tough — and even against some of the largest law firms, corporations and insurance companies out there.
Our hard work has helped us recover more multi-million dollar jury verdicts than any other law firm in the state, including the three largest verdicts in Nevada history — $54 million to a burn victim, $25 million to a bus accident victim and over $500 million to the victim of a defective drug product.
