Faye and Dr. Leon Steinberg were the honored guests at The Venetian on March 29 when they were presented with the Dr. Miriam and Sheldon G. Adelson In Pursuit of Excellence Award at a gala ceremony.
Proceeds from the gala will support scholarships for students to attend the Adelson Educational Campus. Arriving guests were Toni and Victor Chaltiel, Naomi Fine Sloan and Art Sloan, Sig Rogich, Christy and Allan Molasky, Joel Katz, Jayn and Art Marshall, and Leora and Robert Blau.
During the reception, harpist Sara Kantor entertained during the silent auction. Master of ceremonies was Ron Kirsh, Eric Nelson conducted the live auction and Harbor Lights played for dancing.
Enjoying the gala were Flora and Stuart Mason, Edythe and Gilbert Yarchever, Peter O’Neill, Humberto Gonzalez, Amy and Arthur Bloberger, and head of school Paul Schiffman and wife, Sandy.
Silver Ball: The Nevada Law Foundation had its 16th annual Silver Ball in celebration of its 25th anniversary on April 4 at the Four Seasons. The Foundation was founded in 1983 to address the need for funding legal services to the poor and legally disadvantaged in Nevada.
David McElhinney serves as the foundation’s chairman; Robert Eglet is vice chair; Sarah Guindy is secretary/treasurer; and Suzan Baucum is executive director.
The black-tie event began with a reception and silent auction with attorney Marc Yampolsky entertaining at the piano. Among the guests were Shelley Berkley, Dina Titus, Steve Wolfson and Jackie Glass, Mary and Elliott Eisner, Selma and Troy Bartlett, Ann Thomas, Bill Maupin, Kathy England, Laura Fitzsimmons, Mark Denton, Donald Mosley, Jessie Walsh, James Hardesty, Michael Cherry, Michael Douglas, Mark Gibbons and Kristina Pickering.
Silver Ball chairmen were Robert and Tracy Eglet. Seen among the 430 guests dining on lobster and tenderloin of beef were Brad and Tiffany Mainor, Karen and Robert Cottle, Leslie Miller, Lindsey and Brice Crafton, Lena and Jonathan Remmel, David Tanner, Nancy Allf, Sharon Christal, George Ogilvie, Matt Diamond and T.C. Crabb.
Honorees of the event were the 2009 Nevada Law Foundation benefactors, patrons and colleagues. Robert Eglet concluded the evening by raising $730,000 for the Nevada Law Foundation.
